THE 2007 German Africa Prize, won by the Executive Secretary of the National African Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council, Dr. Francis Appiah has been presented to President J.A. Kufour at his office at the Osu Castle.
The Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Prof. S.K. Adjepong and some members of the Council accompanied Dr. Francis Appiah to present the statuette and the accompanying citation to President J.A. Kufour. They thanked his Excellency for giving the Governing Council and the Secretariat the opportunity to serve Ghana and Africa.
President Kufour expressed his appreciation and congratulated Dr. Francis Appiah as well as members of the Governing Council and the secretariat for committing themselves to the effective public education on the principles of the African Peer Review Mechanism.
The 2007 German/ Africa Prize, sponsored by the German/Africa Foundation is presented yearly to exceptional personalities from Africa who have contributed substantially to peace, stability, democracy, human rights and the social market economy in Africa.
It was presented to Dr. Francis Appiah in Berlin, by German Chancellor Angela Merkel who in her commendation, remarked that through Ghana’s efforts, more countries are now willing to use the African Peer Review Mechanism to put the politics and governance of their countries to the test.
