Members from Benin in a round Table discussion with NAPRM-GC members

A 12-member APRM Commission from the Republic of Benin, on Monday January 12, 2009 paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council at the Council’s Secretariat in Accra.

The Commission, led by its President Madam do Rego Bernadine and Vice President Monsieur Batoko Ousmane were in Ghana to tap knowledge and ideas on the APRM.

The chairman of Ghana’s Governing Council, Rev. Prof. S.K. Adjepong welcomed Benin’s Commission. He recounted the emphasis President Yayi Boni of Benin placed on experience sharing and collaboration during discussions with the NAPRM-GC at a summit in Benin last year. The chairman added that collaboration is a key aspect of the process because one of the goals of the APRM is the fostering of regional integration.

The President of Benin’s Commission, Madam Bernadine thanked the NAPRM-GC for all the work done since the inception of the APRM.  She said the 12-member Commission is very anxious to learn from Ghana’s wealth of experience and gave the assurance that the Commission will also share with other countries the rich knowledge it would acquire.

Rev. Prof. Adjepong commended Benin, the second French-speaking country to accede to the APRM, and added that as the country is the only Member -State of the sub-region hat has actively implemented all the ECOWAS  protocols, there  is no doubt that Benin will do the same with the APRM.
