1. The Governing Council

The APRM is governed by a 7-member Governing Council. The Council provides strategic leadership and an accountability structure for the APRM process in Ghana. The members of the Council are:

Prof. Akilagpa Sawyerr                            -      Chairman

Prof. Kwesi Botchwey                            -       Member

Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Kwaku Asante        -       Member

Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu                   -       Member

Mr. Richard Quayson                              -       Member

Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamaoh                  -       Member

Mr. Lawrence A. Kannae                         -       Member

Functions and responsibilities of the NAPRM-GC

  • Exercises oversight responsibility of the national APRM programme, with the view to ensuring the independence, professionalism and credibility of the process;
  • Ensures the APRM is a national exercise by engaging the Executive, Parliament, Judiciary, civil society, political parties, the private sector, trade unions, traditional authorities, persons-with-disability and other institutions in an all inclusive process;
  • Monitors and evaluates the progress of implementation of the National Programme of Action

2.     The Secretariat

The Governing Council is supported by a small number of support staff which provides secretarial, technical, co-ordinating and administrative support services to the Governing Council. The Secretariat is headed by an Executive Secretary.

The Technical/Operations Unit

This Unit undertakes the core functions of the Council.
  • It plans and executes programmes and projects of the Secretariat
  • Coordinates capacity building interventions
  • Collects and analyses data to inform progress reports
  • Establishes linkages and networks with relevant stakeholders
The Unit comprises:
  • Director, Technical Services
  • Programme Officer, DOC Coordination
  • Programme Officer, Democracy and Good Political Governance & Socio-Economic Development
  • Programme Officer, Economic Management and Corporate Governance
  • Research & Documentation Officer
Administrative Unit
The Unit coordinates the plans and programmes of the Units for the advancement of the goals and objectives of the organization.

The Unit comprises:
  • Director, Administration
  • Administrative Officer
  • Secretary and Receptionist
Finance/Accounts Unit
The Unit develops strategies for financial resource mobilization, and produces internal and external reports on financial transactions of the organization.

The Unit comprises:
  • The Principal Accountant
  • Senior Accountant
The Audit Unit
The Unit ensures the prudent use of resources.

The Unit comprises:
  • The Internal Auditor
The Public Affairs Unit
The Unit projects and promotes the APRM through the media.

The Unit comprises:
  • The Public Affairs Officer
  • The Public Affairs Assistant
