The Late Dr. Francis AppiahThe National African Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council announces with profound regret and sadness the death of Dr. Francis Appiah. He Was 55.

The sad event occurred on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

In 2002 Dr. Francis Appiah was Appointed Secretary to the NEPAD Secretariat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2003 when Ghana acceded to the APRM, Dr. Francis Appiah was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National African Peer Review Mechanism Governing Council.

In 2007, he won the German – Africa Award for Outstanding Achievements on the Concept and Implementation of the APRM in Ghana as well as other African countries. It was presented to him in Berlin by German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

In 2008 The Government of Ghana awarded him with the Officer of the Order of the Volta.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 in Kumasi.
